Core of Equality and Development (CoED Tanzania) is a registered non-governmental organization dedicated to building inclusive communities where equality, justice, accountability, and sustainable livelihoods become realities for everyone.
COED believes that sustainable development is only possible when communities actively participate in decisions affecting their lives.
The organization therefore works to strengthen community voices while supporting government institutions, private sector actors and development partners to improve transparency, accountability and social inclusion.

To empower communities through human rights promotion, gender equality, community philanthropy, evidence-based advocacy, research, innovation and sustainable development partnerships.
Strategic Objectives
  1. Strengthen access to justice and protection of fundamental rights for vulnerable populations, with a focus on women, girls, youth, and mining-affected communities.
  2. Support social and economic empowerment initiatives for women and girls, addressing barriers such as child marriage, gender-based violence, and limited access to resources.
  3. Mobilize local and international resources to build resilient, community-led development initiatives that reduce dependency and foster long-term sustainability.
  4. Expand digital innovation tools like Kufuatilia to strengthen community participation, accountability, and responsible mining practices across Tanzania.
  5. Strengthen collaboration with government institutions, civil society, and international partners to enhance evidence-based advocacy, research, and program delivery.

Leadership & Governance
COED Tanzania operates with a minimal team of experienced personnel. This team supports and advises all levels of the organization: AGM, Board of Directors, and individual members. We build and manage relationships with partners and donors, then work to meet COED Tanzania’s commitments to these organizations.

General Meeting
Supreme governing body that meets twice a year. AGM determines CoED Tanzania's agenda, including policies, strategies and budgets.


Board of Directors
Advisory organ that meets four times a year. The Board reports to the AGM and sets CoED Tanzania's strategic direction. It supervises the Secretariat through the Executive Director.


Management Team
Management team that implements CoED Tanzania's strategic plan. It is led by the Executive Director, who oversees the departments below.
